Arangam

Arangam is an initiative started by Deepa Mani in 2018 to promote the rich traditions of the Tanjore Bani of Bharatanatyam . The class is structured based upon the training module created by Guru Smt. Jaya Mani.

 

The classes will be solely online classes for sometime and then in-person classes will begin.

Note from the Teacher:

As a teacher, I aim to teach and educate my students the discipline and precision that my mother exemplified as a dance artist. I highly encourage each of my students to cultivate a unique and personal understanding of this classical art form. This involves:

​

  • Understanding how one's own body relates to the dance form

  • How each of our personal experiences helps us understand the poetry, character and content of the dance

  • Enriching the lives of individuals from diverse backgrounds and building stronger communities, deepening individual spirituality and providing a greater understanding of culture and religion​

Many students blend private classes with group classes in order to enjoy the dynamics of a group while growing as a individual dancer.
